The Fresno looks like a jalapeno but brings a different game. Thinner walls, more fruity and smoky flavor (especially when ripe and red), and a medium heat that's approachable for most people. Named after Fresno, California, this is one of the most versatile peppers you can grow.
Perfect for salsas, hot sauces, stir-fries, pickling, and using as a garnish. The pods grow about 3 inches long and ripen from green to a bright, vibrant red. If you want a step up from jalapenos with more flavor complexity, grow Fresnos.
- Heat Level: 2,500 - 10,000 SHU / Mild to Medium
- Flavor Profile: Fruity, smoky (especially when red), versatile
- Days to Maturity: 90-120 days from transplant
- Difficulty: Easy
- Seeds per Pack: 10+
Every seed is grown in isolation tents at our Nebraska farm, keeping the chance of cross-pollination to around 4%.
Growing tip: Let them go red for the best flavor. Green Fresnos are fine, but the red ones have a smoky depth that's worth the wait.
