An Australian bred experimental superhot that crosses the Carolina Reaper with the 7 Pot Brainstrain. The RB003 is rumored to exceed the heat of the Carolina Reaper, with estimates pushing past 2 million SHU. This is a pepper for collectors and heat seekers who want to be on the bleeding edge.
Where RB003 comes from: RB003 was bred by Ross Barber in Queensland, Australia, and the RB in the name is his initials. The most commonly reported parentage is a Yellow Carolina Reaper crossed with a Red 7 Pot Brainstrain, although growers still debate the lineage and formal stabilization records are limited. It is Capsicum chinense, the same species as the Reaper and the 7 Pots.
Why the heat is an estimate: Grower estimates commonly place RB003 at around 2 million SHU or more, which is plausible for a cross between two super hot parents. We have not found a published lab test for it, and heat in any pepper shifts with growing conditions, so treat the number as an estimate rather than a measurement.
Bumpy, twisted pods with a long scorpion like tail, ripening from green to dark red. Despite the extreme heat, there's a surprisingly deep fruity, floral, and citrusy flavor hiding underneath. A serious pepper for serious growers.
