Andy's King BOC (Bhut Orange Copenhagen) pepper is an extremely hot, fruity pepper with a scoville rating approaching 1 million
. It is a variety developed from a cross of the Bhut Orange Copenhagen, a chili that originated in Denmark.
Heat and flavor profile
Heat:Reaching just under 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), it delivers a fiery and intense raw burn.
Flavor:It is described as having a good, fruity flavor, with some varieties having earthy undertones. The flavor is often praised for not having the bitter or floral taste found in some other ghost pepper varieties.
Appearance and growth
Pods:The pods are a bright orange color when mature. Some growers describe them as being gnarly, bumpy, and slightly shorter and wider than the standard orange Bhut Jolokia.
Plant:The plant is a high-yielding variety that can grow to about 3 to 4 feet tall. There is also a "dark leaf" phenotype, which is even more unstable.
Unstable Genetics:As a new and still-developing cross, the variety is considered somewhat unstable, and some variation in grow results can be expected.
These seeds were grown in isolation to help preserve genetics.
